TCOM utilizes transitional duty
assignment, aggressive treatment and objectively based duty status
determinations to return workers to the job at the earliest time it is
safely possible to do so.
Because most costs associated with work injury are due to lost time,
we employ a “Sports Medicine” approach to treatment. This means
aggressive treatment aimed at return to work. When regular duty isn’t
possible, the employee should undergo graded activity (transitional
work assignments) aimed at keeping him/her in condition.
TCOM
physicians also understand that keeping employer costs low requires a
working knowledge of current law and OSHA regulations. Our physicians
pro-actively work with our clients when potential legal or regulatory
issues arise. Bearing in mind the impact that OSHA 300 reportable
injuries have on the employer’s insurance rate, our doctors adhere to
OSHA guidelines, and whenever medically indicated, keep injuries as
first aid only cases.

Expert Medical Care
Expect patients at TCOM to get the best medical care available. Our
board certified doctors are experts in their fields. Being a
specialty clinic, TCOM provides hard to find services uniquely
combined to meet the needs of work related injury management.
Aggressive care is provided in a multidisciplinary setting where the
expertise of Occupational Physicians, Orthopedic Surgeons can be integrated to produce the
best medical results in a cost effective manner.
Communication
Good
medicine isn’t enough. We understand the vitally important role that
communication plays in enabling the employer and insurer to plan
appropriately. Our physicians promptly provide a disability prognosis
to help the employer plan for staffing needs, and so that the insurer
can anticipate needed reserves. Expect a phone call from the TCOM
physician who performs the initial injury evaluation – always the day
of the evaluation, and typically immediately after the employee is
seen.
Within 24 hours, TCOM faxes a typed report with the pertinent details
of the case including an injury history, diagnosis, objective
findings, tests performed, duty status and disability prognosis.
Expect typed notes on every case; anytime physical therapy, special
testing is required, or a referral is requested. All specialist
notes are dictated and available within 24 hours. The doctors are
available to speak directly to an employer or insurer.
