TCOM
assists employers of all sizes in complying with OSHA medical
regulations. From simple respirator clearance examinations to
full-scale hazardous waste examinations, asbestos, lead, or carcinogen
medical surveillance, our team of occupational specialists will ensure
that your employees receive the best exams possible, and that the
employer is in compliance with medical requirements.
Quality
All
OSHA mandated examinations are designed and reviewed by Dr. Kusnetz,
our Medical Director who is board certified in Occupational Medicine.
As standards change, Dr. Kusnetz will incorporate the necessary
changes into the examination protocol to ensure that exams are
compliant with the latest regulations.
Our
equipment and staff are top notch. For example, TCOMs audiometry
testing booth is not the industry standard 2 inch booth, but a 3 inch
booth placed within a sound dampened room. Although our computerized
audiometry equipment is fully compliant with NIOSH and OSHA, we have
staff trained in the NIOSH Hearing Conservation Program. Our
spirometry is fully NIOSH and ATS compliant, and we maintain NIOSH
spirometry trained staff to perform those tests.
Our
laboratory is fully credentialed to perform toxicology screening and
bio-monitoring.
HAZMAT/ HAZWOPER
These
full-scale examinations are designed to capture data that may be
necessary in the future. Hazardous waste workers are exposed to
numerous and unknown toxicants that may not currently be
characterized. Because of the latency of effects from chemicals,
future immunological, neurological, or oncological diseases might not
be evident for decades to come. Examinations include a complete
history and physical examination, blood chemistry and blood counts,
urinalysis, electrocardiograms, chest x-rays and spirometry.
Additional testing is added as necessary, but typically might include
ILO-B reading for asbestos, or cholinesterase, heavy metal, and lead
levels. All examinees are issued a Physician’s Written Opinion, and
are sent a personal letter with the results of the examination.
Abnormal laboratory tests are included routinely for the examinee to
share with his/her personal physician. Please call ahead to schedule
these exams.
Respirator Medical
Clearance
Our
Respirator Medical exam is designed to provide a baseline level of
cardiopulmonary health in addition to annual medical clearance.
Medical surveillance components (e.g. skin testing for tuberculosis,
blood testing, hearing tests, etc) may be added on to the basic
examination based upon the employer’s needs. Results are available
immediately following the examination. All examinees are issued a
Physician’s Written Opinion. Basic respirator medical examinations do
not require an appointment and may be seen on a walk in basis. If
multiple employees need to be evaluated in a short period of time, we
recommend pre-scheduling.
NFPA Fire Fighter
Medical Evaluation
NFPA
1582 Standard of Medical Requirements for Fire Fighters is
incorporated into this comprehensive examination that mimics the
HAZMAT/ HAZWOPER exam. In includes scheduled cardiac stress testing
and utilizes published category A and B medical conditions to provide
guidance in medical clearance. Due to the length of the examination,
pre-scheduling is recommended.
Police Officer /
Candidate Medical Evaluation
Based
on the Michigan Law Enforcement Training Council guidelines, this
comprehensive examination screens officers and candidates for medical
conditions that may impair their own or the public’s safety when
performing the duties of a police officer. Comprehensive testing
including cardiac stress testing is included.
